Trip 1

The I-95 Corridor Coalition worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Georgia Regional Transportation Authority to develop and implement the Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) in 2008 to pay heavy- duty recovery companies a monetary bonus for clearing commercial vehicle wrecks within 90 minutes. TRIP facilitates quick and safe clearance of commercial vehicle crashes by improving towing procedures, and improves traffic incident management in the region while building a mutually beneficial relationship within the towing community to meet quick clearance goals. Only highly skilled companies with trained operators and specialized equipment may participate in TRIP.

The Coalition has been a partner in this Program since 2007, which included the development, issuance, and award of a competitive Request for Proposal . Fellow Coalition Members States benefit from the information derived during this RFP process , including developing the certification process, determining the criteria and training course requirements, and selecting qualified trainers. These training courses can be hosted in any Coalition State to provide training to TRIP operators and supervisors.
